Summersville Regional Medical Center Extended Care Facility

Here are SRMC Extended Care, you’ll feel right at home with our staff of professional and attentive caregivers. We are staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week with more than 70 trained RNs, LPNs, CNAs, Restorative NAs, Physical Therapists, Speech Therapists, Language Therapists, Respiratory Therapists, and Occupational Therapists. We have visiting dentists, optometrists, audiologists as well as physicians specializing in orthotics, nephrology, podiatry, and cardiology. Our staffing ratios are well above requirements and include nine Certified Nursing Assistants on day shift and six at night, four Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) during the day and at least two during the night and evening shifts, as well as two Registered Nurses. These professionals are supported by the full capabilities and facilities of the Summersville Regional Medical Center. As a result, family admitted to our facility are welcomed into a very specialized environment that is responsive to each individual’s needs and prepared for intensive care provisions as needed.

The doors of SRMC Extended Care are open to everyone, providing specialized care for up to 52 residents at a time. While many facilities will turn residents with more care-intensive needs, our facility is primed to prepare first-class service to everyone who requires assistance. Our staff regularly administer blood transfusions, IVs, and IV therapies. They are well trained to monitor sleep apnea machines and any accommodation that allows our residents to feel more at home while promoting a healthy and uplifting environment.

Our Extended Care Facility supports a restorative feeding program designed to provide assistance with special feeding needs. The goal of this program is to help restore the resident’s ability to feed themselves. Special feeding needs could be adaptive equipment such as scoop plates or cups. Residents will be assisted with cueing from the staff. Departments involved in the evaluation of the resident for the restorative feeding program are Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Dietitians.

Our facility utilizes a state-of-the-art Secure Care wandering system that helps to maintain resident safety. Resident safety is our primary concern and top priority when arranging accommodations for every family.

Our cafeteria meal service is available to all residents, family members, and visitors. The cafeteria is centrally located to increase accessibility and to encourage family members to dine with residents when possible.

Housekeeping services are provided twenty-four hours a day through the SRMC Housekeeping department. A clean and inviting environment for every resident is our expectation. In addition to rooms, halls and common areas undergo constant maintenance, sanitization, and periodic detail cleaning to maintain as protected and useable an environment as possible. Laundry services are also available for all residential and facility linens and clothing.
